OUR VINEYARD, OUR STORY

McArthur Ridge's Winemaking Legacy

OUR JOURNEY

Patience and passion

“There was no country on the face of the earth which produced better Burgundy grapes than were produced in Central Otago” – Romeo Bragato, 1895

At McArthur Ridge, we invite you to embark on a remarkable journey into the heart of Central Otago. Nestled within the picturesque Alexandra Valley, our vineyard stands as a testament to our unwavering commitment to crafting exceptional wines that embody the essence of this captivating region.

With roots tracing back to the late 1800s, we have nurtured a profound connection to this special place. Over the years, we have witnessed the transformation of what was once a desert into a thriving vineyard oasis, driven by the discovery of pure glacial-fed water that made our viticultural dream a reality.

At the heart of McArthur Ridge lies a dedication to authenticity. We firmly believe that great wines are born from a deep understanding of the land and an unwavering commitment to showcasing its unique character. Our vineyards, perched upon an elevated plateau and planted across gentle northern slopes, bask in the warmth of the Central Otago sun. The Brassknocker soils, coupled with the pure glacial-fed waters that nourish our vines, bestow upon our wines a distinct sense of place—a true reflection of our terroir.

Yet, our journey extends beyond the realm of tradition. At McArthur Ridge, we embrace the spirit of adventure and innovation. As pioneers in the industry, we constantly push the boundaries of winemaking, seeking to capture the ever-evolving potential of Central Otago’s vineyards. We dare to challenge conventions, inspire creativity, and lead the way for the Alexandra wine community, cultivating a legacy of excellence that resonates far beyond our vineyard.

Discover McArthur Ridge and become a part of our story—a story of passion, craftsmanship, and an unyielding dedication to producing wines that will forever enchant the senses.
